Hi, i have just recently joined the forum and have found some great information and very helpful members who have helped me with a couple of issues already.
I have just started windows 7 back up to my external hard drive but its only path was to the external hard drive only and not to a folder in the hard drive. Is this just the way its set up/configured or can you in fact use a destination folder on the external hard drive? Hope this makes sense.

Many Thanks

Andy

Andy Hi and welcome

Is it important for it to be in the folder or just for organization?

windows 7 backup destination folder?

Has anyone solved this? I tried to point to a specific folder for backup destination using both Windows backup and restore and the Lenovo ThinkVantage toolbox but no go. Windows backed up to the root of my external drive, and there doesn't seem to be any way to change that.

Worked for me!

Problem:

Windows 7 Backup - Cannot specify default save location other than a drive's root on a local drive?

How do I change the default backup folder in Win7?

Solution:

-Create some folder where you want to place you backup
-Share this folder to yourself
-Select option to backup on network and give you shared folder as location,
but not as local path as D:\FolderForBackup,
you must use you network path as //MyComputerName/FolderForBackup
