Hi My Win7 single disk c:\ drive is 170GB & my NAS 500GB of which 224GB free. Lately BackUp reports "not enough space". I deleted (and cleared trash) all previous BackUps but still same behaviour.
Anyone any ideas where I should be looking?
Thanks

What are you using to backup has it got compression on it? The problem is its got to use disk space to create a backup as it writes the file which may be the problem, the other point is the sector size may be different on the drive so that would mean not enough space
Hi Samuria - thanks for your reply. I am using the native Windows BackUp with just the standard settings. In May this year I started worrying about not making any backups (this is a secondary computer) so I set things up using the Control Panel. I successfully backed up and created a recovery disk. I haven't used the laptop since May. Come Sept nothing works and nothing has changed. In fact the backup now takes hours and hours to happen (Acronis would have finished ages ago). And after 26 hours it reports "not enough diskspace". I did - reading this forum - change one parameter allowing 100% for disk space usage but I fear that isn't going to make a huge difference the thing has been running 7 hours and it is only 31% through.

Hi,
Why aren't you using Acronis or even free Macrium reflect ?

Thanks for what was an obvious suggestion - I've aborted the so-called backup and will do as you suggest. Will save me weeks of tearing our my hair! Jean
