Two weeks ago when i powered up my Dell PC there was only a partial flickering and some other normal log on messages/logos on my monitor screen....then all black....No monitor image. Replaced my vga cable from PC to monitor and all was well again......Today the same thing happened no image on the monitor.....Turned off the PC then disconnected the cable from PC and reconnected and voila....my monitor is working again....There had not been any problems since i replaced the vga cable. Can anyone give some advice as to the problem might be?...obviously not the cable....but lost beyond that diagnosis...Any help appreciated...TIA

Well I can only think that it was the connection plug and socket pins and sockets that may have been dirty for some reason or maybe had become distorted somehow - hard to say without actually looking at the device.
This is not an uncommon issue with GPU's and RAM sticks in fact anything that is plugged in in that way - just a purely physical thing.

Thanks for the reply...Since my original post..did some research and pretty sure it is not the monitor or cable....When i first experienced the problem it was the first time i had ever removed the VGA cable.....it is relatively new PC( 2years).....i think it is some type of glitch that can be fixed with simple power/off/on which i haven't tried yet....The problem is only from a cold start...and so far so good....working fine today....will just see what happens..Thanks again.....

Hello Douglas well mate it is always worth a reboot as your first port of call then you can get into the drive and system scans Plus safe mode is always a good way to do those scans because it only works with the WIndows base system files
Now the cold start could simply down the the components cooling down and it is not out of the realms of possibility that the pins and sockets shrink and don't function because of poor or no contact. Things sometimes don't have to be complicated eh?
