Solved Bad ram and a story of RMA

I thought of backlit but then I did a little more thinking. Other than looking good who looks at a keyboard when typing. I wasn't sure I would of liked a lit keyboard right in front of me.
I will be looking for a mouse soon.
I'm trying to somehow stop the pain thing when typing a lot and using a mouse a lot.

Looking around in all my computer stuff and I still have 6 keyboard and mice that I have tried. Plus a few I gave away. So I'm hoping that the search is over.

I can't ever think of those with touch screen and those little keyboards. It must become painful if used much.

I just gave away an old I.B.M. bouncing ball typewriter.
Now their was a touche and noisy typing.

I moved from a old Underwood real mechanical typewriter to the I.B.M. electric. Took some screaming and anger to get use to such soft touch keys.

I have had nothing but great success with G-Skill but I've also had great results with Corsair, Crucial and now Team the new G-Skill.

I haven't gave up on G.Skill I just don't want them to give up on me.

I seldom RMA anything even when I find something is bad. I just throw it away and get on with my life. I don't need the hassle.

Because I have got many hours testing this ram to make sure it wasn't the motherboard I want the problem taken care of by G.Skill. It takes a long time to test 8 ram modules. One of the modules would test good one time and the next time it would test bad, which added a lot of testing time. The other module would test bad all the time.

If it wasn't for the time I spent I would of just tossed the 2 modules and marked it up as a brand I don't buy again. And get on with my life.

If I understand, G Skill has already contended that one of your sticks was "dropped and chipped".

If they ultimately do replace it, would that mean that they were mistaken and that it was not dropped and chipped?

Or would that mean that although they still believe it was dropped and chipped, they will nonetheless replace it because you've twisted their arm enough (shamed them publicly, whatever).

I don't see how they have left themselves any graceful path out unless they admit it wasn't damaged. Which would call into question their own examiners.

I'd prefer not to believe that you can get them to change their mind simply by complaining.

Unless of course, there is fraud involved. Which may well be but how can you prove it?

I'd have done what your first inclination was---throw it out and move on.

I had a 2 week old $110 mechanical keyboard (Leopold Tenkeyless) go bad a couple of years ago. Threw it out as I did not want to endure customer service/RMA/jumping through hoops/blood pressure issues.

A lot of things are done in the name of 'PR'. I've been the recipient before.

Folks so you all understand correctly.
The ram was not dropped, hit, banged in any fashion by me. It left my home without any physical damage that could be noticed with the naked eye or under a magnifying glass.

If I would of saw any physical damage I would of not RMA it. I would of just tossed it.

As you can see in my specs I running 24 gigs of the same ram in Quad channel and it does work as it should.
I just will not be able to recommend G.Skill to others unless a ram problem can be handled in a honest fashion by G.Skill if a person has a honest problem.

Their is one of three places the ram will end up.

1. G.Skill's garbage
2. My computer
3. My garbage

It's all up to G.Skill. I did my part.

I don't so far think my problem is being handled properly. But I'm in no hurry I can wait a while.

Just checked my mail box and found a package from G.Skill.

Opened it up and their was two stick of ram.
One new and one of my old ones. The old one was damaged.
Damaged well enough I didn't need a magnifying glass to see the damage.

Now ask me what brand of ram I will not recommend.
Go ahead guess.

I have no idea why a company would make such a decision but it was their call.

I'm confused. They replaced the broken stick with a new one? Or did they just send your two back to you, only one was an old broken one?

I set them 2 bad ram modules.
They sent me back 1 new module and 1 damaged module.
For sure it was damaged. How it got damaged I don't know. The damage was bad enough that even Steve Wonder would of seen it.

Tradesman would not answer my posts.

Wow. That's just crappy. No wonder you won't recommend them any more. I wouldn't either.

It is simple.
The G.Skill that works; works great.
If you find a module that doesn't work; toss it. Don't waste you time and money doing a RMA.

Because of that I will not be able to recommend G.Skill Ram or anything else they might make.

This obviously damaged stick was the very same stick that you had sent back, undamaged?

Are you tracking serial numbers on all of this? I wonder if there is any room for tampering with serial numbers?

Was there any note or email stating what this package you got is supposed to represent?

If the damaged stick you now have is very the same one you sent in as defective but not obviously damaged, it must have been either 1: damaged on its way back to you or 2: damaged deliberately by them before they shipped it back, to support their contention that it was damaged when they got it from you.


I'm wondering what they want you to believe they are doing? Sent you back 1 replacement new stick and one of your old original sticks? Sent you back 2 "new" sticks, one of which they would now claim was damaged on its way back to you? Sent you back the same 2 sticks you sent them, one of them now clearly damaged when it wasn't before?


You're doing the right thing---avoiding them like the plague.

I'd ditch them even if they had eventually broken down and accommodated you for PR reasons.
