Did the machine come with an installation CD?

After you install and update 7, you need to then install your chipset drivers, sound drivers, video card drivers, and then DirectX updates. You can find these all at Samsung's web site: Support for NP-R70 SAMSUNG
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&pf=true

The issue you face is that the machine doesn't officially support Windows 7 and so you must use the corresponding Vista driver.

Did you install the 32 or 64-bit version of 7?

Base System Devices are almost always built-in card readers. Their drivers can be found on the Samsung Support Downloads webpage for your model. Just pull the card drivers off and install them which should resolve the Devices in error.

I would NOT change out drivers given by the installer, unless performance dictates doing so. This is not XP. Win7 is the authority on it's drivers, delivered via the installer and then optional Windows Updates. Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware

It did come with a installation CD. I'll check, but I think that is a full Windows (Vista) recovery. Its the 32-bit version.
Many thanks for your help

I've got auto update switched on.
The performance issue, if its the drivers that are causing the problem, relate to MSOffice. Outlook and Word will frequently come up with "not responding". If I hold back and not press another key, they'll come back after a few seconds.
If i get "not responding" in Excel or PPT, there's no hope . . the application needs to be re-started. MSOffice is up-to-date so I'm guessing this is a memory issue, hence taking a closer look at the drivers being loaded (or not)
Thanks for your advice btw

Run through these basic troubleshooting steps to try to resolve your performance issues.

Don't change out any drivers given in Device manager or updated by optional Windows Updates until troubleshooting confirms they are causing a problem.
