I have just started using Windows 7, moving from a dying Windows XP to a new install of Windows 7 Professional on a refurbished Compag desktop, and have encountered this problem:
I personalized the desktop by selecting the Windows Classic Theme from the Basic and High Contrast Themes. Everything seemed to be going fine until I d/l and installed SketchUp.
SketchUp will not display while this Theme is selected. I get the various ToolBars for SketchUp, but the screen stays plain white. None of my drawing efforts have any effect. If I minimize and then maximize SketchUp, I still see the toolbars, but now see my desktop wallpaper; no drawings.
If I stop at this point and switch my Theme to one of the Aero Themes, then SketchUp behaves perfectly; all the seemingly ineffective drawing instructions did do something.
Turning off Hardware Acceleration in SketchUp solves the problem, but presumably at some penalty in performance.
I have checked the graphics drivers; they are up to date.
