Hi! This is my first foray into the world of virtualisation so please be patient. Any help really appreciated!

I was going to follow the tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8254-windows-virtual-pc-create-virtual-machine.html but install Ubunto - as I have Windows 7 Home Premium - and therefore can't install XP for free.

Would this work, and the would the Ubunto VM be able to surf the web?

Any advise really appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Have you thought about VMware Or VirtualBox

VMware is my preference.

I haven't tried to put Ubuntu in Windows Virtual PC myself.

VM's will surf the web just like a regular machine.

Many thanks for the reply.

If I'm using VMware - which of the downloads would I need - is it VMware Player for Windows?

Is there any help/tutorials available for using VMware please?

Sorry - I'm struggling to find any suitable links!

Cheers

This tutorial shows how to install Ubuntu Linux on a VirtualBox virtual machine: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ndows-7-virtual-machine-using-virtualbox.html

Kari

Thanks Kari - that worked a treat!

At the moment the display is VESA - using the Oracle VM Virtualbox VBE adaptor.

Is there anyway I can increase the screen resolution please?
Did you install the VirtualBox Guest Additions as described in tutorial, Part 2 steps 15 to 21?
