Hello! First of all, I write using my phone, so sorry for language.

Today I turned on my pc and I have very weird problem. So, I turned it... And I done literally nothing, my windows changed theme to weird old style and in right bottom corner I normally should have my wifi network information which now I don't have... Yesterday everything seemed to work properly.

I scanned my system with Avast (I know. Not the best...) and full scan found no viruses.
I tried to restore my system however when I try to do it I am getting error. Same when I try to reinstall windows using windows tools...

Ok, couple of additional information!
I got second computer so if there is any software I need to download is ok. Maybe there is any program that can help me with backing up windows? (I don't mind restoring entire windows and loose all the data I have. I just want my PC back)

I can't reinstall windows by putting Cd with windows 7 inside because my CD DRIVE is broken and it does not reads any cd co if its the only way to fix the problem- I'm kinda screwed.

Also I apologise if I put the thread in wrong place but I desperately need help.
If there is any other information you need just ask and I will do my best to provide it. Many thanks! And I hope someone will be able to help me.

If you can boot to your Desktop, try doing a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html to a date before you had the problem. This will put things as they were on that date. == Wait, I just noticed the Win 98 in your title. Are you using Windows 7? If not I can't help you. If you are, try the System Restore.

Hello friend. You misunderstood me. By "win 98" I meant the theme that is on my pc. I use windows 7.. That's why I'm on on this forum. I tried that option. I don't have turned on "System protection" and that doesn't allows me to do system restore. When I try to follow windows instructions and try to turn on "restoring system option" the error appears. This is why it's so complicated to me. Ps. I am on administrator's account so I dont even understand what's going on.
Oh and I noticed that the system is not reading my headphones that are plugged in. I think all of it is because of the same problem but I don't know what's going on. However. Thanks for attempt...

You do have Windows 7 Home Premium or higher, right? If you dont, the program you used to do this might be glitching. Otherwise, Aero would not just get disabled like this.

I'm guessing, but it sounds like your PC is starting in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode your networking will be off by default.

If you are seeing everything on the screen much larger than normal, and that has lead you to believe that it is a 'Windows 98 Theme', then I bet that is what is going on.

Try this:
Start the computer and start tapping the F8 key immediately after the BIOS screen goes by.
On the Windows Boot Menu that follows, select "Last Known Good Configuration" and then press ENTER.

Also on this menu is the option to "Start Safe Mode with Networking". You could try that to confirm whether there is any problem with networking (and if this is actually Safe Mode you are looking at).

Ehh. None of these worked. Seems like I gotta take my pc to a specialist. I got told that probably the reason of my pc getting f*ked up is hardware has been damaged. Actually, it makes sense, no wifi, plugged headphones doesn't work and win 98 theme. If you have any ideas I am more than happy to try something more but I don't feel like there is much things I can do by myself..

No need to see a specialist. This is simple stuff....

Right click your desktop. Click personalize. Under aero theme, click windows 7.
The theme that looks like windows 98 is windows classic.

Alternatively, you can also try the Aero troubleshooter if you have problems turning Aero on.
Click :orb: then type "trouble" without the quotes. Click troubleshooting. Under appearance and personalization chose display Aero desktop effects.

As for the internet issues,
Is this a laptop or a desktop?

Under the troubleshooting window You can also use the connect to the internet troubleshooter under network and internet.
