Which version of Windows you have shouldn't affect how your battery is charged up so it's probably just coincidence.

You may be needing a new battery. Do you have anyone nearby who can check the battery for you?

Your English is better than my non-existent Malaysian!

How old is the Laptop? If it is still under warranty, they will likely replace the battery for you. But to answer your question, no, it is not normal to only be able to get a 50% charge. On my HP DV6, when the battery went bad, it just wouldn't hold a charge for long. When it was plugged in, it would get up to 100%. A quick search on the good ole www, resulted in quite a few circumstances where people are experiencing the same issue. It seems maybe you did not follow the manufacturers "New battery charging instructions".

Try this, leave the laptop unplugged and watch a movie, or something that will drain the battery fast. Let it die completely and then recharge it for 12 hours and see what happens.

Let us know.

Just a thought on this.

Go to your Lenovo Energy Management. Make sure your Battery Health is optimized for Battery Runtime for it to charge the battery up to 100% otherwise if it is Optimized for Best Battery Health it will stop charging at 50% and maintain at that percentage thus preserving the life of your battery.

Kurt, it's your Lenovo Energy Management thing.

If you open up the Energy Management window, you may see the big battery graphic saying how many % does you battery have left. On the right of the battery graphic, do you see anything that says "Best battery health" or "Optimize for battery runtime"?

If your setting is at "Best battery health", your battery will be charged to a maximum of 50% to avoid over-charging of your battery and keeps it in a good health. If it's on "Optimize for battery runtime", the battery will be charged to 100% and everything is as usual and will act like how normal laptop is.

If you want to change the setting, click on the blue-coloured gear and choose your preffered setting. Your battery is fine, just I believe the setting is wrong.

Hope this helps!
