Hi,
I've recently installed windows 7 onto my laptop but have come up against a problem. I have tried to download the drivers for the battery from the HP site but they won't install.
The battery dies in min's without power lead and I'm using a widget to keep an eye on my power.

Please can anybody point me in the right direction.

I have a similar problem. On my dv6625 laptop, since installing Win7, my battery times were horrible and power level readings inaccurate. It powers off at 40-70% left, after turning it on again it charges up to about 70% and jumps straight to 100%... Windows shows me the "consider replacing your battery" and HP support wants me to revert to Vista "to check if the battery's okay there" :/ At least it's good to see it's not an isolated problem

yeah, I suspected it might be a common issue.

Think Windows will show support for this driver soon. Hope... :-s

On second thought, this might actually be a battery issue after all. When running from an Ubuntu Live CD, the battery got drained from 100% to zero in mere 26 minutes. I'm going to test it more, by putting it to a friend's laptop (near same model, should fit) and seeing how it performs there. Still, the driver shouldn't show such confusing readings - if it gets drained in a short time, so be it, but it should still show correct life left.

I'm having the same issues. I have two batteries, one only a few months old, and neither one will charge since I installed Win 7 Ultimate on my DV6000t. This is odd since I didn't have the problem when I was running the Win 7 beta.

Sounds like they need to work on the ACPI driver. Thats the driver that helps with your power managment. With the DVxxxx HP laptops, their nvidia chipset were horrible. I had a DV2000 Special Edition and my battery would only last 45min on Ubuntu. XP and Vista both worked great for 2-3hrs. So I would just wait for an ACPI update.

I am having the same issue with my HP DV2000 laptop. It's very annoying because 1st it stops charging at 60% and then when unplugged the battery lasts 20min max. It doesn't make any sense. I did not have that issue with Windows Vista.

I find HP very slow to support Win 7. Last time I contacted HP regarding this they told me they don't support OS changes and that I should revert back to Windows Vista. Annoying.

Thats whats going to happen. That unit was sold with Vista and they will not be supporting Win7, ever. Thats how big business works. Thats exactly why Vista got a bad rap. People with older hardware were finding that there was no driver support, and they blamed MS. What they are doing is supporting only their new products. So, in a sense, they are trying to force you to buy new every time.
