I have battlefield 2 running perfectly, just have a bit of an issue.

On my XP machine, I can navigate to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc]

In Regedit to edit the keycode I use for online play.

I don't seem to have this entry in Windows 7. Can anyone offer any insight?

ok so here is what you do. open the explorer. go over to organize- then folder and search options and click on that. then go to view. scrool down and select show hidden files then directly under that de-select the "hide..." selections. you will now be able to see every file on your computer. but be careful if you delete one wrong file it can mess up your whole computer.

Diesel the problem is you are running Windows x64 and you're looking in the wrong place for a 32 bit program. In 64 bit Windows most 32 bit programs have the registry entries in the Wow6432Node folder. For BF2 it would be in,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc

P.S. Don't forget to add the x9392 if front of your cd-key.

Weird. You were right about the location, but seems that my copy doesn't have an entry for the key.

What does it show when you expand the BF2 folder?

huh? Why do you have to do this?

One reason if he is like me and has the game installed on another drive/partition and doesn't want to have to re-install the game after installing Windows.

Diesel here is everything that should be in that location is the following,

Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2]
"Language"="English"
"Locale"="en_US"
"InstallDir"="D:\\Program Files (x86)\\EA GAMES\\Battlefield 2"
"Version"="1.5"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc]
@="[B]x9392[/B]"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\wdc]
@="true"

The part that is bolded (9392) is where you enter in your cd-key (no spaces).

lol. forgive me, but I still don't get it. The game does a key check whether you play on or offline, and since he can play the game, "running perfectly", offline, why the need?

I'm not trying to be thick, just want to know what's going on here?

This is so weird. On my XP box, there is the egrc tab, and I can change the code. On my 7 machine, it's definitely not there. That image I posted is all I have in that location. Bizarre.

And to Fumz, I have different account I like to play with different GUIDs, so I need to change the keys when I change profiles.
