Hello everyone,

Probably lots of users here got this game and also experienced a lot of bugs.
My came freezes with sound repeat. And on the recent crash it popped up a DirectX error(i dont remember all what it sayd):
All i can remember is that it mentioned something about my NVidia card or driver. Also there was "make sure you have video memory atleast 512mb".But I have 1GB of video mem.
I really like the game but I cant play it while waiting for another crash...
Any help would be highly appreciated.

I have the latest DirectX version, the latest video and sound drivers and also checked for update BF3.
Sometimes it crashes after a long time of playing , sometimes after 10-15 minutes.

"The Screen freezes with looping audio - repeating the sound for 5-6 times and then silence and freeze..." and then I will have to force end the process Ctrl + Alt + Del.

- Are you overclocking? If so, try lowering them and see what happens.
- Have you tried lowering the game's settings as suggested by DarKelk?

Outside of that I would suggest visit the BF3 forums and see if your issue is reported there, and what are some suggested fixes.

You might also give my troubleshooting guide in my signature a look through.

Yes my game runs with medium-high setting quite smoothly.(tried to set all min. still crash)
I have gigabyte gtx 460 which is overclocked in factory.

I will read your suggestions.

edit:
The hardware is okay and also its temperatures.I build PC's and I always monitor the temperatures and usage of hardware.

Not sure what to make of the game runs fine at medium, but crashes at min settings

Does (if) the game runs fine at medium settings? If so, why not leave it there?

I will try your suggestions.

You can try lowering the settings of the video card but I wouldn't recommend it. If it's overheating or failing, RMA it.

Also have you cleaned the inside of you computer lately with a can of compressed air? That might help with heating, it that's a problem.

I mean that I have tried all settings and tried to turn of AA and blur .With every setting it makes still the same crash.
I have built the PC 6 months ago for now and every single game runs fine and PC inside is clean aswell and temperatures are very good also.
What RMA means ?
Any other suggestions ?I really like the game ...Want to make it smooth..

I've seen a ton of posts here lately concerning problems with BF3. Where are did you get your game from? And have you contacted EA?

I bought it from the official game store.
I was thinking about to contact them, but due to such a common problem i think they won't be able to answer me anyway at the moment.

Edit:
Recall:
I remember long time ago playing CS1.6 with the NVidia card I had exactly the same problem - Game freezed with looping sound and then game stopped working. Also a notice popped up saying "video driver has stopped working and has fully recovered"

Well then you'll have to call tech support, or visit the game's forum like I mentioned earlier.

And if the game is running smooth on medium settings, and that's all your hardware can handle, then that's where you need to be.... medium settings. You might want to check your specs vs the game's "recommended" specs.

Outside of that, I have no further suggestions to offer.

Sorry.

I think I found the problem...

DICE:
- according to DICE themselves, the Battlefield 3 crashes might be caused by the fact that some graphic cards come overclocked from the factory and they recommend to drop some of these settings. This is a fairly extreme fix and personally I wouldn’t recommend trying it unless you really know what you’re doing

So please can you give me a good software for underclocking the GPU ?

If you can't find it or get it to work from the Nvidia control panel, then MSI Afterburner should be able to,

download from Guru3D.com

and yes it works with pretty much every card out there not just ones made by MSI.

I agree and I personally think it's a copout by Dice. In short B.S.

Anyway the only suggestion I can offer is to lower the game's settings so as not to stress the video card, or if you feel like the card is failing contact tech support and request an RMA (Return to Manufacture Authorization) - NVIDIA's Manufacturer's Warranty

On the other hand It may simply be that the game is a bit too demanding for the vidoe card. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE 1GB Review. Also note the "Recommended" system requirements for Battlefield 3

As for "underclocking" the card, no, I can't recommend any programs as I've never underclocked anything. You might check with some forum members at an Nvidia site.

And agian, see what others are saying at the BF3 forums!!! Trust me, when I have a game issues or question I go to that game's forum for answers.

I've also told you to look through my guide for tips, other than that I'm out of suggestions.
