I'm running a GTS 250 and it's all I can do to get 40 FPS at 1600x1200 running DX 10. I went into the config.ini and changed directx from auto to 9 and that gave me an extra 30 frames. Nvidia just released a new set of drivers for BC2 sli support.

It isn't your card that is holding the game back, it is your dual core CPU. The game is optimized for quads, and to make it worse for dual cores the audio is all done on the CPU so a good chunk of one is taken up with that.

For what it's worth I get the same sort of performance. If nothing else this is the excuse I have been looking for for moving to a quad (grabbing a x4 925 in the next week or so).

I'm sure you're right. That's just something I'm going to have to deal with. I don't have the cash to get a new mobo/CPU/Ram.

Played the campaign over at a friend's house for a while and the graphics are very good, I like the fact that your vision gets obstructed when grenades and/or explosions are happening on your fights, it makes you feel like you're really there. the game is very linear and scripted though, I wish they would let you explore more options.

I didn't like the feel or look of the weapons though, they feel bulky, like to big for the character, equirements are a bit steep and perhaps not optimized as good?

Overall a very good game (so far)... perhaps after a patch it will be better.

My major gripes with the game itself (aside from all the connection/PB bugs) is the audio rendering and the lack of crouch toggle. There is a hot key script that was posted by zerk16 via twitter that fixes the toggle. I would run it through an AV before trying this.

More proof that this game is a CPU hog. I have tried mutiple resolutions from 1024x768 up to 1600x1200 and I only get maybe 10-15 FPS increase tops. I seen different pc specs that would normally give solid FPS numbers that were left to waste by BC2 simply because the CPU used was a dual core. A dude had a dual core Intel, a 4870, and 8 GB of ram and was achieving 30 FPS average. So definately a quad core is a must for this puppy if you plan on achieving FPS above 70. Not sure why they decided to take out the sound card in favor of software audio rendering but they did and now to really get the most out of the game you have to get a quad core.

Hey, this thing could a major hog but, at the very least, you can play it... slow as it is, go tell the folks over Ubisoft's newest DRM game (AC2) how they feel about the game and UBI after the servers were down for more than 10 hrs yesterday or over the weekend

Last night I was watching TV when all of a sudden I see a commercial about a shooter game and it looks just Awesome, I mean... Mouth Watering. It endep up being this game and I got kind off upset and down at the same time because I knew that the commercial was not remotely close as to what the game was... marketing at its best! Gotta love it! :shock:

Yeah, you should be ok. It's not impossible for me to run the game. Panama Canal and Laguna Presha both cause me lag but the others aren't all that bad. I think that the PB problems are fixed. They were supposed to patch all the servers early am yesterday. Our server dropped twice with 32/32 and we didn't see the PB init failures like we did a couple days ago. If you want to follow on EA's 402 equavilent(for lack of a better title) zerk16 has a twitter account. He's been fairly good about posting updates about issues and fixes. Now if they can get to where config file changes can be saved so ban lists, server banners, and other things are permanant.

Thanks fumz and wdaexodus for reassurance. I have a pretty good system, but the C2Duo is my slowest point of system. When I get a moment from work and life, I'll pick it up.

I have been looking for a new FPS game for a while haven't gamed on PC in almost 10 years. Picked up Crysis Demo to see if my system could handle it and it runs pretty fluidly

I think BC, and more importantly the hype, has bamboozled a lot of guys into buying new hardware. You will be the suck unless you've got a quad and a 260 minimum... :shock:

What gets lost is that the reviews almost always run insane amounts of AA and AF, even when they don't need to, like at 2500. Turn it off and all will be good.

i had it on ''pre-order'' but i had to cancel it due to unforeseen circumstances, the BETA ran like butter on my rig 70+ fps most of the time maxed out...

it is a visceral experience, i'll try & grab a copy this wk end & join you all in the theater of battle

Well I think it is legit at least on the CPU side. It maxes my CPU. I think my GTS 250 handles it fine. I saw unplayable video lag last night while playing Panama Canal. I think I dropped to around 17 FPS for a few seconds while buildings were coming down around me.

I am running low settings with my resolution at 1280 x 1024 to try to get as much frames as possible. I ran in 1600x1200 and down to 1024 x 768 and saw maybe 10-20 FPS increase total. Not a big difference. The big change was going to the config file and changing DX from auto to 9. That gave me a solid 20 FPS change. I average about 45 FPS for most maps but Panama Canal and I believe Laguna Presa both cause considerable drops for me. Before doing all this I was averaging right at 25 FPS. I never ran Crysis but I am sure that if you can find a setting where FPS is managable with that then BC2 should be fine. They said that it's not a taxing on the pc as Crysis is.
