Solved BCDEDIT Question

Been having fun with having dual booting on my machine now, but here's a question I'm wondering if you can do, and if you can do it, how. I read that you can boot off of a DVD as well. So can you boot off of a external drive as well? I know my computer will allow me to boot off of a usb, but what would like to do is this. #1: Turn on computer and have it go directly to the C drive and boot normal.
#2: Turn on computer and tell it to boot off of the USB and have the USB act as the C drive while I'm doing things.

You will have difficulty booting windows 7 from a usb connected drive.

It can be done - best left to the geeks.

Windows will tell you that you can't install it to a USB drive.

Even if you do manage to do it you'll find it'll be a lot slower and you'll also have drive letter problems when you start connecting other USB hardware.

Also, some BIOS setups can't be configured to let you boot from a USB drive.

In my view, it's just not worth the bother.

If you want to dual boot, wouldn't it be easier to partition your internal hard drive? If that's not possible, you can always buy another one.

You can always try, but what would be the point ? External drives are meant for storage.
Not to mention it would be slow.

Just wondering and point taken. Figure I could get the extra boot off of my SSD. Case closed.
