I recently bought HP dv6-6102sa laptop which comes with beats audio. Does anyone know if I have to do some settings to make sound better or it will only work with beats headsets. I've tried normal headsets and I didn't noticed any difference sound quality.

Also in quick guide, it says laptop got 4 speakers but I only notice sound coming out of 2 when I play audio.

Anyone here knows about beats audio who can help will he highly appreciated.

Thanks

A google search for beats audio should answer your questions. Many think it's just a gimmick.

I don't think its just a gimmick!

I Google and found few tips how to configure beats software which improved overall sound quality but I guess I need to play with different equalizer settings to find the best combination.

Thanks for replying to my thread.

The gimmick thing cracks me up. People always say "They just turn the bass up". But hey.... With good sound, comes good bass. As far as the original post, I have the Envy Beats Edition and mine has 2 headphone jacks, one for regular headphones and one for beats headphones. I'm not sure if yours does and if that would even matter. You really don't notice a difference? Well... If you using under $20 heaphones, maybe I could see that. To each is own though... I think it kicks ass, not the best in the world, but not a total gimmick. I think people get mad because shit's expensive. I guess this was a pointless post. Oh well, I'm leaving it.

I was just repeating what I saw from my google searches on this. Back when this thread was first started Beats Audio was relatively new.

Dell has a similar thing going with a SoundBlaster software audio enhancement to the integrated audio.

Anything by Monster Beats is going to have fans and people who diss it all day long. Honestly, from an audio standpoing, I find the headphones are too expensive quality wise compared to offerings from other high-end vendors like Grado, Beyer Dynamic, Audio Technica, AKG and Sennheiser. At the end of the day, it's subjective and depends upon what type of sound you want out of your cans. The Beats exaggerate the lower end frequencies, thus making them far more bass heavy. For me, I would rather have a much flatter response on the headphones and adjust the sound to my liking via equalization.

Well, my Envy has a little headset picture by one and headphones by another. I'm thinking the headphones is the Beats jack for me. I'm not sure about yours. I tried looking it up and didn't find anything right off the bat. But I'll try more later. Can you download a manual from HP? I don't even know if that's the real issue. I was just trying to throw that out there.
