Yes, I've read the numerous articles and forum postings about how NOT to trust 3rd party tools for searching for outdated drivers. But are there ANY that CAN be trusted and are useful? I have DriverReviver which I stopped using for reasons I have now forgotten. I am now using SlimDrivers which I believe is certified. I use it as a supplement to Windows Updates.

There is no reason to use a driver program, either there is a driver or there isn`t.

Just go to the manufacturer of the hardware.

Why are you searching for outdated drivers ?

Sometimes it's not easy to find drivers. Easy to find graphics drivers but there are some drivers (can't remember what specifically at the moment) that aren't really easy to find so I use tools to make my life easier.

really no need to update drivers if your not having problems. some times new drivers are worse then the one before. so if not broke dont fix it.

I've done quite a bit of research into this. The majority of Driver Updater tools that are available online are just scams/malware which tell you to download more software and eventually this slows down your computer and it just becomes a pain to get rid of later on.

However after reading numerous reviews and first-hand experiences from people on forums, I too came across Slim Drivers - it's a great tool for finding drivers. I only used it find the out-dated drivers as my manufacturers website didn't show any drivers after 2009/2010 and I was having problems; which after using Slim Drivers to find and identify these drivers, I updated them and the problems I was facing were gone!

Therefore I would only recommend the use of Slim Drivers as it has proven reliable and it hasn't installed any malware or told me 'You have 256341 registry errors, click here to fix them <Sends me to dodgy website>'.

I'll admit, looking at the GUI, it looks like a fake, but after testing it I can say that it does work 100% and I wouldn't recommend choosing anything else.

Hopefully this answers your question.
