I would suggest that for trial purposes you look at Ubuntu which may be run as a virtual windows program using the WUBI system.
I actually keep a copy on a bootable USB stick for recovery purposes so options are available, It is also one of the most "Windows Like" distros though others are available

Yeah I currently am running Ubuntu, and I want to install Windows Ultimate x64. However Ubuntu has been giving me so many problems I would like to try something else. Also, it does not matter if it is similar to Windows. I would actually prefer something a bit different. Suggestions?

I personally use Ubuntu 11.04 its my favorite, runs fast, never has any problems and I like the new Unity desktop enviroment, but if u want something different a good alternative is Linux Mint which is based on Ubuntu. It has Gnome 2.3 as the default desktop enviroment instead of Unity which is why many people went to Linux Mint.

Ubuntu is usually best for those new to Linux. It seems to work well, with most hardware. Lots of people like Linux Mint, which is based on Ubuntu, but contains most of the multimedia pieces that Ubuntu takes out.

Wireless used to be, [c.2009], a real problem with the user having to go through all sorts of hoops with propriety drivers to get things to work.
maybe I've been lucky with the recent distros, but the current versions have found my local wireless links without any input from me (11.04 desktop).
As I do not actually use Linux in a regular production environment I am perhaps not the best to give advice on this but personal experience has definitely improved. I will say that I've always found that if you do have issues with hardware on Linux that the information is out there on the net starting with the forums of the actual distros involved

Depending upon the model and the chipset, wireless under Linux can be a gigantic pain in the butt. Some mfg's simply don't make drivers available.

Hm.. Fedora is not bad. I'll say you Ubuntu or Fedora. They are both good. I have dual boot with Ubuntu 11.04 and it runs good.

Any reason why you chose Slackware? From what I've read (haven't tried it myself) it's one of the harder distros to set up. Lots of compiling. Not "out of the box friendly." Same with Gentoo as well. Out of the 3 distress you mentioned, Fedora is by far the most "out of the box friendly." I have tried it.
If you are just looking for a "different than Windows" experience, any Linux distro will provide that. However, if you're just starting out, I would mirror others' opinions and go with Ubuntu, Fedora, or Mint. Others that might be worth a look are PCLinuxOS and Zorin OS.
Although I currently don't dual-boot, I am running Linux Mint 10 (Julia) on two different machines. Best Linux distro I've used to date. YMMV.

- This machine was given to me when my dad bought a new computer. I keep throwing upgrades at it and it keeps on ticking. Think I've done everything to it that can be done outside a PSU upgrade so I can run an even BETTER GPU.

Personally I love the look of Fedora but have found it to be buggy, or rather not-working-100%-out-the-box. In the end I always go back to Mint which I have been using ever since Ubuntu switched to Unity. Currently I am running Nadia which I am very happy with. Kubuntu is another flavour I enjoy.
If I had the time, patience and bandwidth I'd probably go with either Fedora or openSUSE though.
Played around with slackware but it just didn't seem very polished. And Zorin I would gladly pay money for; it looks amazing.
