hi guys,

Just wondering, what's the best thing you found in windows 7?

for me since I skipped vista, not sure if it's already in vista or not, but what I like the most is the search/run command as you see in the picture. you can type a part of the name of a program or any file and it will try to remember what you typed before , saves a lot of time I rarely have to go to the all programs to look for applications.

It is in Vista, but it is also something I cannot live without now as well. Very useful tool.

Not sure what my favourite thing about W7 is, but it would include Aero, the start search, and everything in general.

I agree on the search bar, for me it has to be its so stable, I was having so many issues with Vista SP1, when Win7 beta came out I jumped onto it and have been happy ever since.

When i had XP i had to sort the programs dir in start menu every week, by deleting usless links and creating like 'utility' and 'multimedia' dirs. Now with the search bar i don't care. Just type in what ya need and you are done.

Probably my single most favorite feature is the Resource Monitor.

It was good in Vista and it's incredible in W7. Tells you almost everything about what is "going on" at any moment on your mchine. Why is my net active? Why is my HD running like crazy? Where has my memory gone?

It combines several other older graphical and command line tools in one very convenient spot.

As with most things that get better, it leads you to think of ways it could be improved EVEN MORE heh, but it's SO much better than the nothing in XP and it's first attempt in Vista. I'd like to shake the hands of the little team/person who worked on that.

My fave things are :

Jump lists and overall speed of the OS. Ive run XP and Vista in the past ( Still dual booting with Vista now) and W7 beats the both easily IMO and its not even RTM yet :D WMP12 is nice as well.

Dock like taskbar is awesome.

the Taskbar, and in general everything, it is the first Windows (that I know), with that people are already happy in the beta state.

All the other Version had need a time after there release to be accepted.

(and only to say I was a big Linux User and / bring me back in the microsoft world)

In the last Time Microsoft (has learn perhaps learned of there faults) bring a lot of good Software...

I like the new Aero features, i.e. Aero Snap, Peek and Shake. I use the snap feature all the time now. I know it's minor, but the same was with Vista too, I just loved the Instant search feature in the Start Menu. Most of the features in Seven that I've come to like are minor and I don't really notice them until I go back to Vista or XP.

wow I didn't know about the resource Monitor, just checked it out it's wonderfull!

Actually now that I think of it, it's good that microsoft are comming up with something really good to give to all their customers after making so much money , I used to hate microsoft as I was an IBM Fanboy, you see I'm an ex-IBMer, used to get jealous of how successfull microsoft are, but now I think they are doing something good with Windows 7, and I'm begining to like them again, I think windows 7 might be really big when it's released, maybe as big windows 95 back in those days...

hi guys,

Just wondering, what's the best thing you found in windows 7?

for me since I skipped vista, not sure if it's already in vista or not, but what I like the most is the search/run command as you see in the picture. you can type a part of the name of a program or any file and it will try to remember what you typed before , saves a lot of time I rarely have to go to the all programs to look for applications.

yeah thats my favorite part about vista. Its kinda old though, so favorite about windows 7 is jump lists.

Everything about Windows 7 is stable. I also love the performance enhancements and the improvements in security. Overall, Windows 7 is also more stable. I would have to say I love everything.

The new Superbar is also great. Jump lists help me go to the last webpages I viewed easily. And the Start Search helps me find anything without a hassle of going through the start menu. This is because Microsoft no longer wants people to use the start menu for them to start applications or so I heard somewhere.

For those who have skipped Vista - almost everything. For older PCs owners (like me) reasonable resource demand. What is the best? I would say generally convenient organization, speed, stability in RC phase, useful search, and moreover ... this forum - tutorials, advices, etc.

you know XP was really OK, just got tiered in the end lol, it's boring, and I heard nightmares about vista.. also I was stuck with 512MB of ram because my old computer had RDRAM ( Rambus) and upgrading was more expensive than a new computer lol, eventually I heard w7 works with 512MB better than vista does, so I tried it and when I Did, it ran fine but kind of slow, so I got a new PC in the end :)
