Thanks to all of you. Yes, I have been reading various forum posts, and I look at the tutorials when I can, but I also find the organized presentation of a good book to very useful. I looked at the excerpts from the Missing Manual book recommended by whs and it looks good. Thanks again.

I have the Missing Manual for Vista and still use it a lot (as many things also apply to Win7). I also have other good books from the series for more advanced info (e.g. Annoyances).
