Edit: I don't need 6956 anymore because this patch also fixes ocur issues with CableCARD.

6956 doesn't have the problem. It is build 7000 only.

That can't be true because I just started using 7000 today, yet my mp3s were broken weeks ago. Many (if not all) had the beginning seconds removed. Is there a way to fix them?

A possible solution to the MP3 file corruption issue

If some of your MP3 files have already been affected, you might be able to restore the corrupted MP3 files to their pre-edit status. To do this, follow these steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, right-click a corrupted MP3 file, and then click Properties.
2. On the Previous Version tab, select an earlier version in the File Versions list, and then click Restore. If multiple edits were performed, you may have to revert to the oldest version that is available.

That's a good tip. It'd be nice if there was a way to do it for 6000 songs at once :huh:. Unfortunately for me, they've been copied across the network, and back a couple times recently, so there are no previous versions. I'll be starting a new library and slowly replacing all of my music.

I have yet to have any problems with MP3s...I've been listening to music since I setup WMP12 about 2-3 hours ago.

Well they didn't say that it does it to all files. But it would be silly not to install the patch. You will be pissed when it starts wrecking the first 2 to 3 seconds of your mp3 files.

No, it's not in windows update yet -- There was some update downloaded when I installed 7 yesterday, but I just installed the mp3 patch and it didn't say it was already installed or anything.

The only thing I've gotten from Win7 Update is the optional prerelease drivers from NVIDIA...
They really need to put that update up.

I just go to NVIDIA myself, and updated the driver...works like a charm
