hello everybody, well basically i used to play bf2 alot before i upgraded to win 7 RC, i used to play it on windows xp sp3 and it worked fine. no i try to start bf2 and it goes to a black screen like its going to launch but than just goes back to windows, no error message or anything. this game is fully patched and everything, i even tryed it before installing the patch, so i know its not a patch issue. could someone please help me fix this problem?

alot of time in order to fix this problem a reinstall will fix it..but also..here another one to try..this problem has been around with XP also..

goto My Documents. find the BF2 folder.. goto Profiles folder
then there will be folders with "001" and 002" these are your user folders..
if you have more than one account.
open one..your gonna have to read the individual folders with Wordpad..so right click on the item you wish to look and and "open with" Wordpad.
anyways, goto the "Video" one..and open it..you need to reset the video resolution. do this by setting a standard resolution.

VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz

sometime you can also.. just delete the folder..and it will be remade when you log on to BF2

this problem occurs when you have a non standard PC resolution..and you try to launch the game. usually you get a black screen.
just google BF2 Resolution fix.

My fix

I am running 7 enterprise x64
I had all kinds of issues getting bf2 to work, i ended up calling ea and complaining because after the 6 hour ordeal of installations, patches, booster packs, and re patches, i made them put the Complete pack in my EA Downloader acct (all i had to do was give them my serial). After that all i had to do was download it, install it, and play it. It plays really well on my newer box, with all the settings maxed out. I have used this method on countless windows 7 boxes with x86 and x64 with all types of hardware. No problems so far :D (it also works if you pay for the steam version)
