BF4 Lag and Crashing on new build

Welp, seems like I have an issue. I just finished setting up Windows 7 SP1 64 bit on my new 2Tb drive because I was having issues with the old installation. I've gotten everything up to date, drivers, etc.

The first issue I noticed was in Battlefield 4 last night, I had breaks in the sound, and lots of laggy video. This was without any video configuring. After that issue I updated the video driver off of Nvidia's website, instead of using the drive that Windows selected for me. I used the Nvidia utility to 'optimize settings' for Battlefield 4 using their new software, and it worked great next for about 30 minutes until just now.

Halfway into a round, after doing some adjustments to the mouse speed, it started to lag again and with no warning, the monitor shut off, and the game went south. I had to do a hard restart (power off at the switch) because I couldn't resolve the issue when it happened.


Any suggestions would be great, I'd hate to keep leaving the servers before the end and not getting my score.

Update: After updating all of my drivers and Direct X info suggested in the pinned thread, I noticed my Gaming Graphics and Windows Aero score dropped .1 in the experience index? What gives?

Now the GeForce Experience utility included with all the recent drivers refuses to recognize any optimal settings for BF4. Why do I always feel like I'm having driver related problems off of Nvidia chipsets?




EDIT: Just happened again. Opened the case to physically check GPU temps by hand and the heatsink was TOASTING. You could smell it in the case. Fan wasn't running and was completely unobstructed. Not sure why it wasn't running. I pulled the card, let if cool a bit in open air and blew some compressed air through the fins on the heat sink to help cool it off a bit quicker and re-seated it. The fans running now, but I'm guessing there's an issue with the GPU fan.

This card is literally less then 6 months old and it's already having fan issues.

I love Nvidia, it is so much easier than ATI in my opinion.

Now, being said that, I read that you updated your drivers after the clean install... may I ask, how exactly did you do the update?

1.- Did you installed on top of the old drivers and call it a day.

or

2.- Did you uninstall the old drivers from Device Manager or Control Panel, along with the PhysX and Audio Drivers (must go to Realtek or manufacture and download a newer updated drivers as well), then restarted, then allowed windows to install generic drivers, restart again and then install newer drivers with Admin Rights? Must people forget that PhysX is part of the Nvidia drivers but they don't uninstall with the video drivers and they may bring problems with the installation.

In my opinion, even when you think that video is the culprit, audio has something to do with you having problems or, since you will update one, might as well update the other as well... they kinda go hand in hand. Is like having an eye exam only for 1 eye or changing only 1 strut in the suspension of your car... at least for me it is and it has never let me down.

Perhaps you can RMA your card, you can hardly blame Nvidia for something that Gigabyte might have done wrong. Then again, now a days... they are all pretty much to blame for having less than subpar quality control on their products or not as good as before I should say... It is a crapshoot .
