Big Case Small Desk

So I bought a new case in September and was able to finally finish updating my build yesterday. It still needs to be organized and perfected but it works. The case is a Mid-Tower (Corsair 600T Graphite) but its too large to fit on my desk. The CPU fan intakes air from the rear so its needs some space. My last build I had off to the left side of the desk on a little shoe rack I took apart and rebuild. I think I might need to do that again since it will not fit on the desk.

Any ideas?

If the door opens enough to go in and out of the room, you can put a doorstopper on the floor to keep it from hitting the PC. There are also stoppers that you mount on the door hinges.

bigmck,
Your new case and rig are sweet, that Corsair is a fantastic mid tower so use it on the stand and then wrap the monitor cables in something like this to clean up the look and your done. Great job on the build !

Why not on the other side of the desk?

Here is the other side, that is where it originally was till I bought the tv unit.

IMG_20110103_100548.jpg

+1 the other side of the desk on a file cabinet or even just on a raised computer stand with wheels.
Amazon.com: Kantek Mobile CPU Stand, CS200B, Black: Electronics

Interesting stand  Wondering if I can find one the height of the desk.

That table is nothing but fine and the price is right also. It looks just like a PC.

Viable option.

If the door opens enough to go in and out of the room, you can put a doorstopper on the floor to keep it from hitting the PC. There are also stoppers that you mount on the door hinges.

Yeah that is true but I need the door to close all the way.

^^^ Cool stand. :)

It is very interesting.

Thanks linnemeyerhere,
I was going to make another thread for everyone that has helped me through the process but i wanted to get it set-up first. I have those plastic sticky strips on the desk but a lot of the cords are too short to run through them then to the comp since its not on the desk.

_______________________________________________________________________

I originally had the computer parallel against the wall on the left side, now the tv unit is there, not sure how to accommodate it with less space. If I stick it out then it blocks the draws.

Lollies, Looking more closely at your desk it appears you may have another option. The trim hanging down from the cabinets I think is to hide a concealed light? This needs to be looked at closely but it should be just inexpensive trim molding. You can carefully pull this off with a putty knife under each brad holding it in place then save that piece to re-install later. Buy another piece of molding and paint it after trimming short to allow the system to slide under......as long as you have some room for the top fan to exhaust?? Just thinking ! Molding could run $5-7 dollars some paint and some brads and your done !

It's a lovely rig. I'f certainly want it up on the desk. I have mine like that and I get less dust problems than on the floor.
If you had it on the left side of the desk or on a cabinet/stand level with the desk, it would keep the light glare from the window off of your screen:)

Unfortunately not, the desk is built in.

I'll look into it but I don't think it will fit into the cabinet but even if it did, where would I make air holes? Its a creative idea but modifying my rooms furniture may result in my death.

I bet he's only got American Express. :D

Any ideas?

Thanks
-Lollies
I don't know how handy your are with wood working tools or if you need all your desk drawers but I would probably remove all of the drawers on the left hand side, you could carefully remove the faces and tracks. If their isn't a boottom cut one and lay it in place and put the case in there. Then get a small file cabnet for the left side if needed, but it appears you have a lot of storage above.

All in all though the suggested Amazon.com: Kantek Mobile CPU Stand, CS200B, Black: Electronics Seems to be the cheapest and easiest way to go
