Howdy All

I recently (1 week ago) purchased a gaming pc. Fairly well speced.

Now not far into the peice I installed Acronis Director Home 2011 and created a petition on my c drive. I have a 1TB drive. I created a roughly 300 gig c drive petition and that left a say 630gig Data Disk petition along side. All good until now.

Since buying I have installed a truckload of games and other software.

Today I tried to re-size my c petition trying to make more space as it was getting a bit squeezy in the c drive petition.

Acronis went through the motions as usual. Towards the end of the process it reported some error.

When I then looked at the drives/petitions in my computer the only one visible was the c drive petition. There was no longer a Data Disk petition to be seen.

I then tried again to resize back to 931 gig but no good it still showed a 300 gig petition.

Getting a bit sick of it now I decided to reinstall windows and start over reasoning that that would fix the problem-no it didnt, still only seeing 300gig.

Funny thing is when i was installing windows it asked me if I wanted to install on the 931gig harddrive but after install its still 300 gig in "My Computer" view.

I can usually work most things out but not this one.

Help Appreciated

Thanks

Its kind of ironic really because the program that seems to have caused the problem is the program that fixed it also.

I ended up reformatting the computer as I suggested i might. I thought that would surely give me back the rest of my hard drive. But no, that did nothing, still only showing 300 of a 930gb hard drive.

I decide to put Acronis disk director back on and just check the status of the hard drive. It has nice little graphical representations of the hard drives on the system.

I'm playing with it a little when I realized that there is space in front of my 300 gig drive. At closer inspection I realize that I have in fact 630gbs of useless space in front of my c petition.

I pull the slider to the left and press the commit button and the PC shutdowns and restarts and processes and I look into my computer to find that my drive is all back again. all 930gigs worth, cool I thought I had broken something for a while.

For the record, you don't need Disk Director to handle most partitioning tasks. Window's own Disk Management can do most, and Partition Wizard, which is free, can handle the rest.

To expand on what DeaconFrost said ... the Win7 Disk Management utility even allows you to resize the "C" drive -- which most folks would guess is not possible. I've done this a couple of times and it is remarkably fast and developed no problems whatsoever.
