okay

eeepc 1000h
2gb ram
should be 120gb hdd

everything has been running fine for a couple of months
i've been trying to make network discovery work for my homegroup (without success)
today i downloaded office 2010 beta, and when i opened up the zip file for install it said it couldnt open path. while trying to figure out why i discovered it wont open drive c. keeps telling me im not authorised. i am an administrator user account.

ive tried everything i can think of. run - chkdsk doesnt open. or chkdsk r
will not format drive, will not defrag or open properties.

will not allow me to copy from drive (files, pics or software)
did allow me to upload files to skydrive

i am still using it so it is operating, it just wont give me access to the drive itself.

very strange

it appears other people have had the same happen after deleting homegroup profiles, which is something i have done today.

any help on how to fix it?

Yep there is a great tutorial on profiles in the tutorial section. that is also the reason you cant access C:. When you delete stuff you dont know about you run the risk of making your computer into a bookend. Be careful

deleting a homegroup is not something that should have this eefect, i do know a bit.

i've been having trouble making my computer (this one, as i have 5, and 3 are running win 7) discoverable

that still doesnt offer a fix though, it tells me about profiles, which is not the problem

hi guys, thanks to all responses

i have fixed it and i will share how.

cannot boot from any other drive or device because you arent allowed to access the main drive (in my case c)

i found a fix on another forum.

reboot into safe mode (i unplugged and took battery out to force a reboot option on startup)

start - my computer - right click c - properties - security - edit - type "everyone" - keep saying ok - then reboot.

seems to be working so far.
looks like many people have had this problem when they have deleted a homegroup. which you should be able to do without this problem accurring. i still havent managed to persuade my netbook that it can allow network discovery so anyone know anything about that please help.
