big start up problem [solved]

Hello,

In disk management I accedently deleted a entry,
The system backup partition has the label d:

So now, if I want to start up Windows I get a message that windows can't be reached.

On system repair I see that Windows is found on d: instead of c:

Can this be repaired ?
I have run several times system repair and start uo repair but that did not work.

Regards,

Roelof

Restart your computer, once the PC starts back up and start tapping the F8 key, this will get you into the advance system configuration screen then follow prompts on recovery.

Hello,

F8 does not work.
Before I see the menu I see the error message.

It sounds very much as though you have deleted the Windows partition.

If that is the case you'll need to reinstall your operating system.

Just to double check, do you have a repair DVD you can boot into?

The NeoSmart Win7 REpair CD download is suspended for copyright challenge.
You'll need to use a Win7 DVD, borrow or make a Repair CD on another Win7 machine.

F8 does not work.
Before I see the menu I see the error message.

What error message exactly? Try again tapping F8 repeatedly and vigorously at bootup, every second or two. If you find a Repair choice click on it to see if it finds an installation to repair. Accept any offered repair, or click through to Recovery Tools to run Startup Repair repeatedly. Report back results and exactly what happens.

Absent getting in to repair, burn to CD free Partition Wizard bootable CD.
Boot PW CD, take a camera snap of the drive map showing all listings clearly, post it back or type it all out.

If you see the Win7 partition, rightclick on it to Modify>Set to Active, OK. Then click on the Win7 HD to highlight it, from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, Apply all steps.

If WIn7 won't start, report back exactly what happened with each attempt above. What disks do you have now? Do you have Factory Recovery on the computer or Recovery Disks?

Do you have access to a WIn7 DVD? Reinstalling Windows 7

If you can get to the recovery console(just make sure you select cancel and "show me additional recovery options" just type these commands typing enter after each:
fixboot
fixmbr
bootsect /rebuild
bcd /rebuild
bootcfg /rebuild
Type Y or A for Yes and All and type enter if asked for anything. For name type Windows 7 and for for advanced boot settings don't type anything just press enter when asked.
If you didn't removed your windows partition (which seems to be like that after the repair finds it) these commands are doing great work. If not then you could try recovering it with a boot cd - I recommend Hiren's Boot Cd. Either Acronis Disk Director Suite or Partition Recovery.

Hello,

Problem solved.

I downloaded and burned Partition Wizard and saw that the windows partition was not active. The recovery partiton was active.

So I change that and everything work like a charm.

Everyone thanks for the help,

Glad it helped.

Did you also Rebuild MBR from PW CD, or just set Win7 Active?

Hello,

I just set Win7 to active.
