does anyone have a good webpage that shows a conversion format for changing whole numbers into a binary value? TO PUT IT STRAIGHT, I have seen quite a few conversion tables, but on any of them it is only mentioned that 101=5. I want to know how 101=5.

For instance, I at present don't understand how 1101=45 or 13 given the binary long conversions from decimal values to exponential expressions.

101=5 means decimal 5 is equal to binary 101. How? Binary uses only 2 digits- 1 and 0. 1 means on and 0 means off. So 101 is (start from the right)

2 exponent 0 multiplied by 1
plus 2 exponent 1 multiplied by 0
plus 2 exponent 2 multiplied by 1.

The sum total comes to 5.

In the decimal system, you use the powers of 10 and of course digits from 0 to 9. So a number say 202 would be (starting from the right)

10 exponent 0 multiplied by 2
plus 10 exponent 1 multiplied by 0
plus 10 exponent 2 multiplied by 2.

Sum total is 202.

you might want to use a site Binary Hex Converters
to convert.

What this all means is that binary is only 1's and 0's

counting from the right the first digit is half of the next to the left number
ie 0001 is one and 0010 is two 0011 is three and 0100 is four 0101 is 5
decimal. etc...

One caution is that when you search for converters with google, many of the sites that come up first are sites that you might not want to go to as the bad guys end up getting their sites listed at the top of google searches. It is a sign of the times.
