I'm not fussed about porno but I don't like the idea of a search engine that can select so specifically what I see.
As I said, who knows what else they are not letting me see or are they monitoring it.
I don't think this is paranoia.
Since 9/11 our government have monitored the activity of everyone. There is a definite feeling of mission creep or maybe legislation creep.
Local councils and police forces have admitted using powers granted them in the anti-terror laws to monitor petty criminals such as small time cannabis growers and people who don't use poop scoops!
I imagine they've also caught some terrorists but that's no excuse for misusing this legislation for such minor issues.
The price of freedom is constant vigilance and we have to be vigilant that our liberty is not being eroded.
I'm sticking with google.

For fun, use Seekfind to search for "Darwin." If you want your Internet experience spoon-fed to you, that's fine, just be prepared to let somebody else make a whole lot of decisions for you as to what you are allowed to see. The Internet is great because it's NOT controlled by Disney or a church. Once you let somebody decide was is or isn't porn you will also have to accept other forms of censorship. It's a slippery slope.

Good grief. Searching for 'atheist' in safeseek, Google and Bing yields radically different results. Safeseek would have us believe that atheists are an aberration, a blight on the collective consciousness, poor fools that must repent and be saved. Oh, rapture.

On the odd chance that 'atheist' might be too inflamatory, a subsequent search for 'Christopher Hitchens' yileds some exceedingly poor book reviews and comments. Now I know safeseek is bunk.

Plenty of help on offer to tragic porn addicts everywhere. No doubt very useful for some folk.
Did search for Dawkins. Similar objective responses.

Bing is better than this fanaticism but I still don't trust it.

All internet filtering is 100% fail.

50% of what it filters out is not applicable and it misses the other 50%.

Filters filter on words and phrases and even some image morphology, they don't try to ascribe philisohical reasoning to the content only HUMANS do that by taking random events and ascribing meaning to them (were /experts/ at that). There is nothing "evil" about Bings safe search over anyone elses filtering mechanism.

ALso, all search engines have had and still have radically different results. Google has the best DB but searching yahoo and live will always yeild even more results. I doubt that the Bing search DB is anything other than the live search DB with a new front end.
