Bing Copies Google Results?

Let the controversy begin!

After noticing curious search results at Bing, then running a sting operation to investigate further, Google has concluded that Microsoft is copying Google search results into its own search engine.

Well, Google is a very good search engine. There is a reason it's both a noun and a verb. Now this other thing, Bing...what in the world is that?

as if google does not steal it's search results from sites with it's 'bots. i've posted on a private forum, done a google search a few minutes later and found the post i'd just made on the forum in the google results. half the listed on-line 'users' on the forum are yahoo and google spiders and bots. (4 google spiders and 2 yahoo slurp spiders at the moment, only 2 registered users & two moderators - i'm one. we're outnumbered.)

p.s. - the two registered users are 'awaiting email confirmation' and moderation. i am about to ban them as they are both well documented spammers .

Thats down to poor configuration by the site admin not google stealing results.

On February 1, Google went public (via SearchEngineLand.com) with claims that Microsoft is copying Google search results with Bing.

Is Microsoft copping to the claim? Here’s the original response Microsoft is providing to folks who are asking:

“We use multiple signals and approaches in ranking search results. The overarching goal is to do a better job determining the intent of the search so we can provide the most relevant answer to a given query. Opt-in programs like the toolbar help us with clickstream data, one of many input signals we and other search engines use to help rank sites,” said Stefan Weitz, Director, Bing.

Completely understand why Bing copies Google search results.
What is puzzling is why Bing has no search by time options ?

Now, even if top minds works at Bing team, it is a ridiculous coincidence a particular mispelled word appears in both search results in near identical results/ranks. If that is not a copy, then it is a complete bad luck.

I s'pose its rather easy to...
Every time you google (verb) on Google (noun), you'll notice the query in the address bar.
All Microsoft need to do, in when you bing (verb) on Bing (noun) send that search request to Google (noun) filter out everything thats not a result (by way of looking at the xml), and return it as their own Bing (noun) results.
Effectively, you've just Googled (verb) on Bing (noun)
Easy.

Oh wait... Microsoft stole from me! I did exactly that for a project in my last year of high school, before the Google Custom Search tool was made.

In all fairness, its not the first time results have been copied.
I recall having an issue, so naturally I googled. The first 5 results were all from different sites/forums. But each one had the exact same question, word for word. 3 of them had the exact same answers, word for word, then the thread closed.
