BIOS Driver - XFX nvidia 9300

Hello guys,

I have experienced some bluescreens lately, and I think I need to update my BIOS. I can`t seem to find the correct driver, or atleast find away to install it if I would have found the correct one.

Motherboard:
XFX MI-9300-7AS9 Nvidia nForce 730i

The bios is from American megaTrends (or something, I am on my laptop now, since my computer won`t start, it freezes at windows logo)

Would some fellow Pc users please help another comrade it trouble?

Might be a good idea to post over here about the BSOD's,

read this first before posting,

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

and see what our experts there have to say.

If they determine that a bios update might resolve it grab this first,

CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

and confirm which bios version you have (Mainboard tab); and no it isn't American megaTrends, the bios comes from XFX and XFX only. Next go here,

Support

register and look up your motherboard. Then compare the bios version you have installed to what they have available. If what they have is newer than what you have, look for any release notes as to what has been improved/fixed. If you then do decide to go ahead and flash it (not going to bother with all the end of the world if it goes wrong garbage, with today's boards and how they're flashed about the only way for it to go wrong is if the power goes out in the middle of it), check your motherboard manual or whatever XFX has on their site on how to flash.

You should download either the .bin file (and then use an application to flash your BIOS) or (probably easier) to download the .iso file, burn into a RW media (CD or DVD) and boot your machine using this disc. It should do all the trick for you.

(I'm recommending the RW media just because image file is lesser than 1Mb)

Yes, it is.

Thank you.

I have been posting there some weeks ago, but there was not much of a result. I got "CMOS calculate failure" today, I googled and found some articles about it may be BIOS. Or i could be my ram, but my old ram (which is fine) was installed while I got the BS. And the BIOS is from early 2008 (according to CPU-Z; Brand: American Megatrends Inc., Date: 11/04/2008, Version: V 1.0B25

Thanks, If I come to a conclusion to do the flashing, I will burn a CD :)

I registered at the site the two of you refered to, and downloaded the ISO file and burned it. Now I will reboot to boot with the CD as tw33k suggested, and hopefully, it will do the trick :)

Thanks for answering, I will come back with how it went.

I did not manage to boot from the CD, I have therefore not updated BIOS.

After I rebooted, my computer refuses to start or uses a ton of minutes to log onto windows. And when it finally logs onto windows, BSOD code 0x00000124 remains on the screen until I shut it down or press reset.

Also, I get these "beeps" when I boot, I dont know what they mean. Normally it doesnt have as many beeps as I do.

This is how they beep:

Biip(High pitch) -> biip biip (lower pitch then the 1st one) -> biip (high pitch) ---pause for maybe 3 sec--- -> Biip (lower pitch)

How come?

Quick response, I like :)

As for the most of the tips on that sites, I can not perform. My system boots, loads windows after a segnificient(?) amount of time, and BAM! Bluescreen.

Nor can I switch the components (except RAM wich I have allready tried (1-by-1 etc) ) as I got nothing to replace it with.

Im thinking of just buying a new motherboard, before I rage so hard that my TV, my 2 laptops, my 2 monitors, my fridge, couch, desk, table and everything else goes to hell!

The beep codes are telling you that there is a hardware issue concerning your cpu, ram or vid card or mobo.
Remove all ram sticks but 1, the lead slot. If system boots get and use memtest 86 or schedule the W7 mem diagnostics. Check each stick alone.
See if your HD manufacturer has a diagnostic disk, if so check the HD.
If you have been using same system awhile, no hardware changes lately. Then your bios should be OK. Altho updates usually are helpful.
Enter mobo bios and see if they appear to be set right. Ram and CPU.
Are all fans functional?

For bios flash I use a floppy. Save new bios to desktop.
Extract to floppy.
Bios to "floppy boot" only, or enter bios and select bios flash option.
flash, DO NOT INTERRUPT PROCESS for any reason!

Thanks for participating to help me.

I have tried to switch (humour: and ditch) all the slots with different DIMMslots, nothing new comes up. I have Memtest, I tested all my ram 1-by-1 2 days ago (since I got BS) only 1 ram had some errors, I removed it. And has not put it back in.

I personally think its my ram slots, or the mobo itself, or the bios(wich I cant update, ironically)

If Im frustrated? What made you think that?:o

- Yes, My fans are running, all of them.
- I have been OCing(not much, as I am a noob) but set it back to normal
- Default settings has been activated in BIOS
- Nothing looks abnormal to me, in the BIOS

If you can. In bios. Using 1 stick only. Put ram settings in manually. MHz, initial timings, voltage. Manufacturers specs.
Same for cpu. MHz and voltage.
Make sure vid card settings are correct.

My 680i's showed this type of issue. Bad mobo.

Thanks, I have sat everything back to normal as it should be (even though not much was edited) And I wont dare to do the ram manually-thingy, I guess I am scared of destroying the motherboard (irony, oh hello there)

Well well, thank you for all helping me. I have ordered a new motherboard (still socket 775, because I am going to the army in january, gonna be there for 1 year, so a brand new mobo is not the cleverest I assumed)

I am norwegian, here is some cool letters for you.

Æ (prononced like "ass" - just not say the S`s (and not an ordinary A))
Ø (like in "sir" - sør)
Å (like in "oh my god", in the begining "oh", dont breath out ;) )

Thanks, im tired now :) Good night.

All the ram info could be printed on the side of stick. If so, compare to whats in bios. Its important for ram voltage and timings to be correct for that particular manufacturer.

good night and luck with your countries service.
