All,
I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M57 6072-AUF running Windows 7 64 bit. I got it for a song at a computer recycle center… It was originally a govt of Quebec system and the BIOS is in French. I want to flash the BIOS to update it and to also convert it to English. I went to the Lenovo site and burned the correct BIOS .iso to a disk. The old BIOS version is “LENOVO 2RKT38AFR, 2/15/2008” the new version / .iso is “2rj964a.iso”. However, there is no executable and even though I was able to stumble my way through the French BIOS set up and change the boot sequence to CD/DVD first, it will not boot on start up. The flash from within Windows BIOS version on the Lenovo site is an executable, but only supports a 32 bit OS. Is there a separate flash utility that I can use that will allow me to drive the new BIOS flash from inside Windows 7 64 bit? Basic steps would be good, I could never be accused of being a technical all-star. Thanks

Hi Welcome to Seven Forums .. There is no executable for the 64 Bit OS .. Try tapping F1 or F2 at start up .. That should give you bootable Options ..

Hi Maxie, Thanks for the reply. I tried your suggestion and still no luck. I have tried all the "F" keys on start up and have been through various menu's. I'm positive the box is set to boot from the CD/DVD "D" drive first and I can see and hear the drive activate, but it will not launch the new BIOS .iso I was hoping for some trustworthy freeware that I could use to force it. Don't know if such things are out there, but any suggestions along those lines would be very helpful. Cheers...

Ah great question. I used an old XP Home Edition box (yeah I know) which I will decommission as soon as I can get this new Lenovo system operational. You figure if I burn the .iso image using a Windows 7 64 bit system my results will be different? I have been reluctant to take this Lenovo box on the web because it is not configured in any way and I did no want someone to tip it over while I was in the process of setting it up. Also I did not want to invest the time in set up before I flashed the BIOS, because if I nuke it during the process I have not wasted any set up time. I have some friends that are running Windows 7 and I will burn the image on one of their machines. Certainly worth a try... Will report the results and thanks again...

Hi again .. Lenovo states that you should use Multimedia Center to burn the iso ... UltraISO might be a good choice ..

Hello, I finally resolved the problem by loading a temp 32 bit Windows 7 OS and loading the Flash in Windows Package at this URL Flash BIOS update - ThinkCentre M57, M57p. It worked and now the BIOS is in English. A round about way but it worked. Thanks again for taking the time to respond...

Cheers
