Solved BIOS in new build

I have a new build PC with a BIOS Version/Date

American Megatrends Inc. 0603, 10/29/2010
SMBIOS Version 2.5

Upon boot up the monitor displays
Overclocking failed!

I do not use OC, therefore I have tweaked the wrong item.

Can you please advise me as to what and where in the BIOS I can undo the error and advise me as to the proper values to set so to eliminate the boot up failure.

I had an ASUS board that would do that every once in a while. I went into the BIOS, reset it to optimized defaults (there was an option for that), saved the settings and rebooted. Then, I went back into the BIOS and reset my OC settings.

Everything would be OK for a few weeks and then, one day, I'd get the error message and have to go through this again.

No joy, Mark. There is a Default Setup option in the Exit section, but it doesn't clear the Overclocking failure.
To boot up, I need to enter the BIOS and exit without saving. In this fashion, I can access Windows.

However, I am still getting the Overclocking failure. Should I try to upgrade the BIOS? :eek:

I would not upgrade the BIOS unless I was very, very sure what I was doing. It is tricky and doing the wrong thing can cause problems.

I would agree, but I was running out of ideas. They say never upgrade your BIOS unless you have a problem. Well, I had repeat HAD a problem, so I took the plunge. After a few trial and errors, because I had never done this before, I installed the new (2012) BIOS and joy. :thumbsup:
