BIOS Issues

I recently flashed my gigabyte EP-45-UD3P motherboard with the latest F10 bios. Since doing this when I start my computer it hangs on the first line of the bios screen and goes no further. However if I press reset it boots up fine. I am not sure why this is so and would appreciate any ideas. I have reflashed it using Q-Flash but have exactly same problem.

After flashing the BIOS, did you select to "Reset" or select "Default Settings" and reboot before making customized BIOS setting changes?

I am not totally sure to be honest, after resetting everything seemed to go back to default so I just customised it to my raid setting saved and exited.

Provided you flashed them as you were supposed too, rolled to stock speeds 1st if OCing etc...


AS mentioned already:

You need to reset to optimized defaults after the flash..

Restart the machine and go back to bios and then you can make any adjustments necc.

It has been a while since I had to flash a bios, but yes, this is what I had in mind from those instructions. After flashing, you need to reset to defaults, reboot, and then make your changes to the bios.

I could be a bad flash, but it's probably your hard drive settings.

Load optimized and go into the BIOS again and set the hard drive, RAM timings, RAM voltage, and memory multiplier. Watch me do it if you would like

I did all that and still have same problem. Upon post it hangs after giving the first line of bios screen including CPU id patch. I left it sitting for over 10 mins and it proceeded no further. I pressed reset and bingo it raced through the bios and booted up. I am at a loss now as I have tried all suggestions on the forum. It is a pain as I now have to wait till the computer posts then reset it before it will boot into windows !!!

Reflash the old BIOS.

Just out of curiosity, when you originally flashed your bios,
were you overclocked by any chance?

You shouldn't flash while OC'd because issues can happen.
If so, you may need to clear CMOS, and reflash.

Just a thought.

It could be trying to recover the secondary BIOS. I had something similar happen and I had to wait a long time (like 20-30 minutes) before it recovered. I don't know if that's normal, but it happened to me. You might try re-flashing using all safety procedures. Load optimized before and after. Read this before you flash a gigabyte BIOS.
