Solved Bios on asus z87-A update question

I finally got my intel i5 4670k and asus z87-a board installed. The current bios is at 1007 and the latest is 1405 should I just run like it is or, would it be of benefit to update? I've done it quite a few times on my other boards with no problems but, I wanted to get some more educated input. Thanks! :)

I normally would say if it's running OK to leave the BIOS alone. In Haswell's case, it is still having growing pains so an update is recommended. I have used the BIOS Flashback feature to do it. Check your manual for instructions.

Good to hear. I have fiddled with some ASUS Z-87 boards and they all had newer BIOSes and all ran fine.

I know this thread is old, but i have a very similar build to yours p5200, i am looking to update my bios for my asus z87-a and i was wondering what/where you downloaded the bios file and what steps you took to flash it. I downloaded the recent bios from asus's website, but it extracts as a .CAP file which i believe wont work, am i mistaken about that?

Hi sckillen and Welcome to Seven Forums.
If you look in the ASUS BIOS utilities, I think it is, you'll see "BIOS renamer" and if you run it in the same folder ad the cpa file, it changes the BIOS file to one you can use. I put it on a USB drive and use the BIOS Flashback feature ASUS has, very handy.
