Which would be better to encrypt my whole system (2x partitions)
As my understanding of Bit locker goes its not like true crypts (pre logon authentication)?
I want to encrypt the whole drive and when somone tries to boot my machine up i have an authentication screen for the encryptopion to logon too before the machines actually fully booted to the windows logon.
Ive had past experiance with Payed software encryption in my last job. but ive never got round to doing it for my personal Laptop. nor have i needed to learn more about Bit Locker.
any advice would be appretiated

I haven't used anything else but bitlocker, and quite frankly, I love it. I use it on both my laptop and desktop. Both my computers however are not TPM compatible, so I can't say how that works; instead I use a USB key to start-up my computers.
Without the USB key plugged in on boot the computer will not start the OS. From there you have the option to enter in a 36 digit code or just restart the computer with the key in place.

Ah thankyou very much for this info, my understanding of Bitlocker was that you are able to boot into windows but to access anything in a session you need to enter a Authentication Pass when requested.
Think the best choice for me atm is to try a VM's and run both see which one suits my needs
Also if anyone know anyother encyryption software (that requires Authentication before boot) would be nice to see whats out there on the freeware market
Thanks in advance.

If you have other partitions or drives encrypted you can set them to either automatically unlock or you can set them to manual unlocking. For manual unlocking you can either use a USB thumb drive or you can set a password to unlock the drives. In order to automatically unlock the drives however, it is required to have the C: drive encrypted, otherwise you will have to manually unlock each drive.
