Solved Bitlocker and BIOS Firmware Upgrade - Locked out!

Hello!

In my upgrading frenzy, I went ahead and updated my new work-provided laptop's BIOS (Dell E7240). Lo and behold Bitlocker is now asking for a recovery key.
As the IT Administrator won't be available till next week and I am in urgent need to access it.

My question is simple; does downgrading the BIOS back reverse the lock?

If you need data in a hurry, there is a way if you have linux system and bitlocker backup key saved to flash. This way you can at least get you data off. I am not sure if the program technically legal though even though it is open source. I am not a real strong Linux user, so I wouldn't be able to help you get the data off. Sorry. I did find the program searching google.
