bitool.dll Discussion.

I posted in General Discussion instead of the other forum. I am really good in watching what I install. I am trying to figure out what program may or may not installed this file.

The last program I installed Backup Now EZ on the Toshiba Backup hard drive. I also installed the Epson printer as well.

There is also a debate on whether bitool.dll is dangerous or not. Somoto Ltd. claims in one thread on another forum some security programs are causing a false positive.

Microsoft Security essentials said it was ok. Spybot S&D reported it (I know some people hate that program but I like it)

bitool.dll is not in the registry anywhere. I am just going to delete it & see if it comes back.

When in doubt, upload to VirusTotal and let it scan it.
I'm generally suspect of anything that puts executable files on a temporary location. Look at the date to see is you can identify when it came into.

I found out what caused it. It was part of imgburn (burn iso) that been recommend by posters on here. I never did let it do a full install. It was just extracted, no worries. This is what I hate about adaware/spyware products, they put it with legitimate software & the software gets a bad name.
