I'me having a problems with the black levels in media center. There are fine when i play a mkv using WMP. But they're washed out when i use media center. Ffdshow is used for decoding. Chaning output settings doesnt work.

I'm running build 7100 x86 with the following codecs:
ffdshow rev 2936
haali 1.9.42.1

You may need to tune WMC. You can set the brightness levels in the program.

Open WMC
Scroll down to settings and click
Click General
Click WMC setup
Click Configure your TV and monitor and go through the first phase of the setup
after that is done, you have the option to continue or finish
Click continue and eventually you should come to brightness levels.

Thank you for your reply. I already tried running the media center setup, but it will only let you adjust the settings from your display device. It seems to be connected to ffdshow, since playing a DVD using the built in Microsoft codec shows the right black levels.

I noticed the same thing. I was going to address that after I got my audio issues worked out.

The MCE settings (if you follow the instructions properly) are what you should be seeing. The WMP12 settings are too dark. People tend to like over-contrasty(if that's a word...) images, but the MCE image once tuned is more 'accurate'.

Nothing in your GFX Driver settings nvidia/ati that can achieve this?

Well, on my display the image in Windows Media Player looks correct :). When i watch a movie in Media center in 2.35:1 aspect and the image is completely black, i can clearly see the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen coming out. It's so strange since both MCE and WMP are using ffdshow, but there is probably something i'm missing :).

No, not that i found. I fiddled a lot with settings for brightness and contrast, but i cant get it right. I think it has something to do with pc (0-255) and tv levels (16-235). But switching between those settings in the ffdshow output tab doens't seem to work.
