Solved Black not blue screen of death when system under moderate load

Hi, I am going through some problems with my system dying on me, and was hoping to get a second opinion by having someone look over my system information.

I built my system about 6 months ago my spec are

AMD Phenom II 1100T 3.3gh

MSI 890FXA-GD65 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance memory 8G

HIS IceQ Radeon HD 6850

Rosewill 80 plus Bronze series 1000W

Bigfoot 2100 Network gaming card

SATA II 1TB harddrive

I have been getting random hard crash of my system where the screen goes out and the system is hard crashed(ctrl+alt+del, alt+f4, pushing the restart/power button, nothing works) only by turning the power supply shut off I can restart the system. It only crashes when my computer need some more power, such as playing games (Skyrim), or some thing that requires more graphic intensive work.

I have ran PC burning test on the system and it passed without any issues. I have been monitoring temperatures consistently and average temperature for the all the CPU cores combined is 25 C or so. the GPU averages at 33 C at idle highest I have seen it go while running OCCT GPU test was 65C.

So far I have narrowed it down(in my opinion, not an expert) to either my GPU or my power supply. The computer shop I took it to for second opinion couldn't find anything wrong with the system except for the fact it crashes. PSU voltage was fine apprently but it still failed one of their PSU test and when I run OCCT PSU test it causes hard crash, similar to the crash but not as severe since the power button and restart button works. GPU passed every test so far.

I decided it must be a power supply issue and sent for a RMA but I would like a second opinion. I have attached the current data I am getting from the OCCT, if someone can check over it give me advice it would really be appreciated.

No DMP files included in upload please try this method


We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I tried to get the data but now my system seems to have gotten worst, it crashes(complete one where nothing works, so have to use the power supply power switch to turn off) soon as I am logging into desktop. Tried to go into to safe mode with networking, worked the first time, realized I forgot to uncheck the automatic restart box, unchecked it then restarted, same crash. Tried to log back into safe mode with network, crashed again. Turned off and shut offed the power, will try to log back later to get the data.

Started up fine again, tried to find the minidump file but I don't see it, when my system crashes only thing the event log says about it is the event 41, kernal-power error.

I just replaced the PSU, and ran the PSU test with OCCT. Since it ran without problems for 10 mins when before it couldn't last 10 second before black screening, I figure it was a bad PSU and will consider this problem solved. Gone to try playing Skyrim again, thanks.
