Black screen after login

Ok im back with another problem with my friends computer.

After the password login page he gets a black screen with only the arrow pointer, it can move but nothing else is shown, just a black screen.

I have tried CTRL + ALT + DEL - New task - explorer.exe with no luck, also I booted into safe mode and uninstalled the video card driver which also does nothing.

Please help out, Thanks!

Mate, Im sorry to tell you that this did also happened to me.
Try booting it up in safe mode and also try to return to a previous system point (IE, system restore).
See if that helps.
The only solution I could find in my case was to reformat the machine.Hope you dont have to do the same.

I dont think he set up a restore point as its quite a recent fresh install of windows 7, less than a week :S
