Black screen after update bios

i just update my bios then my laptop dont start just black screen
i tried f2,f8,f12 nothin happen
i think i dont have my bios anymore
hope anyone can help thx

Sounds like a bad flash.

Unfortunately 'laptop' doesn't really give us anything really to work with.

Brand, model and flash method may help.

maybe this might help, is this the black screen that indicates your windows is not genuine? if yes, some oem, are tied to the bios, for instance dell has a universal windows activation code, but it will only work on a dell bios.
therefore if the bios was changed it would cause the above problem.

If the laptop is not even POSTing - complete blank screen, I'm sorry to say but you will most likely have to take it somewhere to be repaired since the BIOS is corrupted beyond easy recovery.

You could try a local PC store or contact Toshiba directly.

Depending on the mainboard of that laptop, you will need an a specialized tool to 'erase' and 're-flash' the EPROM/EEPROM chip or a replacement EPROM/EEPROM chip if it's detachable.

Updating your BIOS is very important. The updates patch things that were wrong with system. Like some updates may give you better battery life and better system stability or performance.

As a general rule at least with me, I read the release notes on the new bios.and unless I'm experiencing a problem and the new bios addresses that problem then I don't recommend flashing your bios just to have the latest version especially if you haven't flashed a bios before. As we can see now with this bios flash it obviously didn't flash correctly. I would contact Toshiba and see if you can send it in to have the chip replaced, also request the latest bios version if possible. Other than that maybe it would cost less to have them send you a preflashed chip and have a local shop replace it for you. Only way out I'm afraid. Of course all of this deoends on what smartyeyeball stated if it is removable or not. Fabe

Just out of curiosity, if the laptop is not even POSTing:

ie not even making it to the BIOS, let alone Windows (presuming the OP used a Win based .exe to flash) how do you propose he 're-installs it'?

Worth a long shot, but if the Boot Block Sector is corrupt, re-setting the CMOS unfortunately will do nothing.

Method 1.

How To:
1. Use HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool with MiniDOS files to make your Bootable: Flopy, USB Flopy, USB Flash Drive (Flash Drive works in rear cases).
When creating the boot Floppy, select from Folder Options to view the hiden and system files and delete or rename the file config.sys if present.
Couse we need DOS with no additional programs that are loaded, which could interfere with the operation of the BIOS flash application.
2. Copy all the files from Rescue to your: Flopy, USB Stick, USB Flopy.
3. Rename your BIOS file to bios.wph and copy it to your: Flopy, USB Stick, USB Flopy.
4. Remove the battery, unplug the computer from the power.
5. Hold down: Fn+B or WinKey+B (On some new Acer Laptop's Fn+Esc and on some new Fujitsu Siemens Laptop's Fn+F)and while holding plug the computer in to power (do not plug the battery) and pres the power button.
6. Now you should hear the flopy drive working, hold the keys for a while and then let go.

8. Plug the battery and the power sorce and if everything went OK the computer shold start normaly.
