Black screen on boot up

hello,
When i try to turn on my laptop i get a black screen, i dont see the windows logo or anything its just black as if it wasn't turned on, cant even get into safe mode. Using Emachines E630 win 7 home prem 64bit.
Before this happened i closed the laptop (not turned it off) for a hour or two when i opened it the blue light next to the power button came on but the screen was black, i tryed opening and closing it which didn't work so i turned it off.

What happens if you turn it on ... do you see the BIOS screen? Do you have a black screen with or without cursor (most likely on top left position of screen)?

Is it just a display problem?
Do you know where the disk light is and is it flashing for about 30 seconds after you power on?

So no disk activity whatsoever? Even not 1 disk flash?
Nothing happens.... except power light is on?

No!! You should see the BIOS screen anyways!

• Screen not connected to mainboard. Or connector broken. Or no power to screen. Or screen just died. But not very likely.. then system should BEEP, and/or boot so showing disk flashes.
• Faulty motherboard
• Faulty BIOS
• Corrupt BIOS

Could be anything.

What I should do:

• Can you open dvd tray? So motherboard has been powered up?
• Replace CMS battery
• Reset BIOS
• Is hard disk spinning? Fans are spinning? Lay your ears on the laptop keyboard... do you hear something?
