Black screen on boot.

whenever i try booting i get a black screen but the chime sound is there. but when i press the sleep button it goes to sleep and when i wake it up i see the login screeen. pls help me :cry:

its been hardly a day since i installed windows 7 on this pc. it was running windows 8 pro before.
