Hi!

When I play certain games the computer just shut downs, like if was a BSOD, although I cannot be certain since my monitor looses signal as well.

Example:
Installed bionic commando, latest catalyst drivers, latest dx runtime. After playing for 3-4 min the screen goes black and it sounds like the computer powers down but do not shut of, if you understand what I mean?

This doesn't happen to all games as well which is odd.

Not sure if it's a hardware or software problem.

Any tips on how to resolve this would be appriciated!

First thing I would suggest is to go into event viewer (type event viewer in search) and see if there are errors related to the problem. then I would go into device manager (device manger in search) and see if your video card is listed and working properly.

I seemed to have installed it alright!
I had a Vista installation on another harddrive, and tried the same game there and got the same result!

So it seems to be rather a hardware problem than something related to Windows 7.
