Hi there, i have a bit of an issue. For the past two weeks now i have been getting some issues whilst playing Airborne, specifically my screen will just go black and say "no signal" after about 30 minutes of game play, i will then have to force shutdown my computer holding the power button and restart. After the issue has occurred once it happens shortly after again. When the crash happens the sound from my speakers loops and then just stops.

I am using a Radeon HD 6850, i am using out of date drivers atm because i am having problems installing new ones (crashed my system) have contacted ATI and XFX, they just said to stick with the old ones till i can get new ones working (pathetic i know)

Any help would be appreciated.

Your problem may be caused by many things > RAM problems >graphics drivers > overclocking > heat issues > using more than one AntiVirus at the same time > etc etc.

*Any BSOD DMP files produced?
If so we need them to enable us to assist you with your computer's symptoms.

* Have you any System Restore points created PRIOR to this happening?

Some troubleshooting steps you might care to consider.

*Type event viewer, in search (by start button) and look for errors that may show the cause of the problem.
Look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).
Note critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.
Google for more information.

* Try a clean boot, or boot into safe mode.

wow looking through event viewer under the administrative events tab there are a hell of a lot of errors! Alot of the "errors" are related to service control manager but the critical ones that match the rough time that my computer experienced the problem are Kernel-Power

Edit: System file checker did not find any system violations

Right okay this is puzzling, i was playing on my PC and the crash happened, once i restarted the computer the only error in the event viewer related to the time was the Kernal-Power and another one about unexpected shut down. This only happens when i play Medal of Honor Airborne, one thing i was thinking is that the game requires Physx to run, which AMD dont supply so i aquired an old AGEIA version, could this possibly be crashing my GPU?

To give a definitive answer we need BSOD DMP files to better enable us to assist you with your computer's symptoms.

Have you worked through all of the troubleshooting steps listed, including the FYI reference?

I have not done the FYI bit yet as i said the crashes CAN be quite random so it would take days, if not weeks to go through all the applications untill i found the one causing it.

As for the DMP, i did a search on my C drive for .dmp and there are several for around the time the last crash happened, which should i upload? or both? They are both in the LIveKernelReports folder.

Edit: I did the FYI as it didn't take as long as i thought, unfortunately nothing came of it, it still crashed on every try. I tried the registry fix also in that pot but the link is dead.

To clarify... have you had a BSOD as distinct from a black screen problem?

More steps you might consider...

* Make sure that you are not over heating.
* Have you tried in safe mode yet? Report back if it works properly.
* Make sure PSU is working properly
* If overclocking, restore to original.

* Check memory with memtest86 {7 to 8 passes.}

I tried the stress test a few days ago (the problem was happening at this point) and it went through no problem, didn't crash. I regularly run HWmonitor and the temperatures seem normal idle on my GPU is around 40 degrees, playing games around 80. My CPU in idle is around 35 and running games/stressful load about 50. I went into safe mode but when i go to run the game that always causes the crash it says the video card is not supported? I will message you back once i have let the memtest run for a bit

Sorry forgot to answer your question, no i have never had a BSOD as a direct result from this.

Edit number two: I ran the mem test for 7 hours (7 passes) no errors were found.
