Black Screen w/mouse pointer

Hello all I am having a slight problem whats going on is that my computer will not boot, it gets to the windows logo then it goes to a black screen where i can move my mouse but after about 5 secs it restarts on its own it does this in all safe modes and in regular mode. I tried doing a system repair but it said that it could not fix start up i tried a few fixes i seen around the net but none of them work, i tired hitting shift 5 times on the black screen, i tried to hit ctrl alt del it didnt work i tried system repair from hdd and the win 7 disk and neither of them work someone please tell me you can help me out because there is no way possible i can lose my information
(I have learned my lesson about backups trust me i have.)

to anyone that can help me i will give 1 million dollars(in my dr. evil voice)(not really giving out a million dollars but i will give a million thank yous)

Try this:

• UNPLUG THE LAPTOP
• REMOVE THE BATTERY
• HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO 2 MINUTES
• THEN PUT THE BATTERY BACK IN
• START IT UP..

It might not completly cure it, but it should at least get it to a point where you can get back into it.

Hey thanks for the welcome! Wish I could be on the other end the one giving advice instead of getting lol. I tried what you told me to but still goes to the black screen with the mouse pointer for about 5 seconds then it just restarts and makes me boot again. When I do boot up it always comes up with the repair option highlighted and says recommended but out of the 6 times i ran it (three from the option during boot up and three from the windows 7 repair dvd)i haven't been able to get it to startup. I tried diabling the autmoatic shutdown to see if i get an error but still the same thing, I also ran the various diagnostics in my bios and none of them came back with an error. Im gonna try the remove the battery solution again just to make sure.

Have you used your machine with any other monitors?

Please run scf / scannow:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html and post the .CBS file. You may have corrupted video drivers.

Check in safe mode if you can change the screen resolution. Try the lowest possible setting, if it is already there bump it up one or two. The video may be out of range. Then try a restart.

Not sure if you have on-board video, but if you do, and you are working off a separate video card you could go in to the system bios and search through the screens for a command saying "enable on-board VGA, and disable it.
Save the new settings and start up as normal. See if that helps.

Yes i did use another monitor I hooked up my tv so we could watch blue rays off the laptop, I have done it tons of times and never had a problem but it makes sense that the video drivers are corrupt because every scan i ran so far came up with no errors I can't access safe mode not even just safe mode command prompt ill run the sfc off of the windows 7 disk and see what it comes up with if it does turn out that my video drivers are corrupt is there a way i can uninstall them from the repair disk command prompt

I'm not sure, I do not think so.

From the way it sounds you have the ability to boot from disk player?

ill run the sfc off of the windows 7 disk and see what it comes up with

If not try pressing F8 while restarting, one of the options will be to boot from disk.

yea its looking like im gonna have to reinstall i tried running the repair from the disk a few times before i came to the forums to no avail, i turned off automatic restart on failure and it never came back with a error or a blue screen just stuck in that loop. i was able to make a bootable cd of ubuntu and i copied all of the files that i could not lose (websites i was working on, graphics, video edits i had been playing around with,etc) I have learned my lesson I will back my system up every few days lol thank you for all your help i think im gonna go ahead and reinstall and get it over with too bad we couldn't come to a solution on this one now i have to reinstall over 50gb worth of programs....now what did i do with those install disk

It will be a little painful to get everything back, but now that you are going to do regular backups it won't be as hard if it would ever happen again.
