Black Screen with Cursor On Startup

Hello! I've been having some issues with my Windows 7 recently. It started with my system randomly rebooting the past month or so. This would happen anywhere from a couple times a week to a few times a day. The last couple of days, I've noticed that it's having some trouble starting up. Sometimes it would freeze on the windows loading screen. And this evening, after the windows loading screen, it just ends up at an empty black screen with a movable cursor. I have attempted to restart several times, but I keep getting this black screen. I am able to boot up in safe mode, however, which is what I'm on at the moment.

Any ideas?

My sister-in-law had a similar problem on her laptop and found out that she has a bad screen. That's not saying that you have a bad screen, but it might be something to look at.

Hello Gossamer have you tried a sfc /scannow and have a look through this
