Black Screen

Hi,

I've got Windows 7 Ultimate x64 running on an Acer Aspire X1700.

I have never had any problems. Suddenly one day when I started up, it would not load.
I see the starting Windows screen, then it goes blank. It will remain like that for hours.

The computer boots normally until the Starting Windows page disappears. After that, nothing.

I can boot into Safe Mode perfectly, no problems.

I really DO NOT want to re-install Windows. How do I fix this? I really need my machine fixed ASAP.

I would greatly appreciate any help!

Hello dxgeoff.

See if this will help you.
From memory.....
* Reboot and press F8
* Select "Repair my computer"
* Select the keyboard layout and language
* When you reach system recovery tools, select System restore.
* Select the restore point when it was working fine and restart the computer.
