Black Screen?

Hey really hoping someone can help me...

I installed Windows 7 Professional x84 earlier today. After I log on I get through the Welcome load screen to what seems to be affectionately labeled the "Black Screen of Death." Well I've browsed through these forums for a while now, and tried every solution I could find:

I'm guessing that it's a driver for "something" because My computer 'works' in Safe Mode.

My Black Screen is just that, a Black Screen. No mouse, no flicker, no start menu... It is a black screen.

I do hear some sounds, such as being logged into Skype.
I do have a custom Wallpaper (some people mentioned it here or there, but I'm not exactly sure how to change it ala safe mode)

HP Elitebook 8730w
Intel Core 2 Duo, P8400 @ 2.26 GHz
2 Gigs of RAM
nVidia Quadro FX 2700m Device Manager Version 8.16.11.8681

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

(Or if someone could just give me a simple way to get back to Vista Business <,< I don't really have the time for my laptop to 'not' work.)

Windows 7 x64 or Windows 7 x86? Is this the RC or is it RTM? Did you install this on your Vista partition, or did you create a new partition so you could dual boot Windows 7 and Vista?
