blinking underscore after logo screen

hello, i have a acer aspire 5336-2460 laptop, everytime i try to boot into windows it gets stuck at a black screen with a blinking underscore in the top left. I tried making a bootable win7 dvd and it still doesn't solve the issue. F8 won't work only F2 and F12.

Since when is this happening?
It sounds like your hard drive is on its way out.
